DTCL to launch CDMA WLL telecom solution

Dhaka Telephone Company Ltd. (DTCL), a PSTN operator, will launch voice, data, and video services through CDMA WLL telecommunications solution, covering all the four zones of the country: Southeast, Northeast, Southwest and Northwest.
DTCL and HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES of China has made an agreement, under which HUAWEI will take full responsibility for supplying, installing, and commissioning DTCL' s CDMA network, as well as, maintenance and operation of the system. Wang Sheng Li, President HUAWEI (Asia Pacific), and DTCL Managing Director and CEO Quamrul Islam Siddique signed a contract in this connection in the city on Saturday.
DTCL's Directors, Kazi Mohammad Shahidullah, Reshadur Rahman, and M.A Jalil were present at the signing ceremony. An interconnectivity agreement was earlier signed between BTTB and DTCL within the backdrop of these subsequent developments.
DTCL will launch the service by the end of this year, commiting to connect 200,000 subscribers. DTCL will deploy the service based on a robust network architecture and cutting edge technology, such as, Intelligent Network (IN), which provides popular value added services, SMS, VMS, quality easy-access customer care, and competitive tariff rates.
Billing will be both prepaid and postpaid. Call charges and connection fees will be less than that of BTTB. The company has a plan to reach a customer base of 1,000,000 subscribers within a time span of 3-5 years of operation.

AKTEL, Dhaka Telephone sign deal

An interconnection agreement has been signed between AKTEL and Dhaka Telephone in the city recently. Under the agreement, AKTEL and Dhaka Telephone will have access to each other's network. AKTEL Managing Director Md Nasir Bin Baharom and Dhaka Telephone Managing Director Quamrul Islam Siddique signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. Also present on the occasion were AKTEL Director Coordination Fazlur Rahman, Chief Coordination Manager QM Rezaur Rahman, Head of Corporate Affairs Mashur Rahman and Dhaka Telephone Director Reshadur Rahman Shaheen and Chief Technical Officer Manzur Murshed.
BTTB signs deal with DTCL

An agreement was signed on Saturday between Bangladesh Telegraph & Telephone Board (BTTB) and Dhaka Telephone Company Ltd. (DTCL), a private land phone company aimed at increasing tele-density in the country, reports BSS.

Under the agreement, an interconnection between BTTB and DTCL will be established to facilitate the subscribers to get direct access to the country’s total telephone network. Besides, the subscribers of DTCL will have the benefit of getting international tele-links.

BTTB Chairman Engineer M Nurul Islam and DTCL Chairman AM Hayatuzzaman signed the agreement.

On the occasion Nurul Islam said tele-density in Bangladesh is one of the lowest in the region. “After the launching of private land phone companies country’s tele-density will grow to a greater extent,” he said.

Replying to a question he said that after operations of private land phone companies the activities of BTTB would not shrink. Rather it will help bring dynamism among the BTTB officials and employees to survive in a competitive atmosphere and increase revenue.
