DTCL has deployed CDMA 2000 1X technology standard for its radio/wireless network. It is a 2.5G wireless technology with clear evolution path to 3G which was approved by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 1999 as one of the five radio interface modes for IMT-2000 standards. The IMT 2000 Terrestrial Radio Interfaces as shown in Figure 1 as below:

It may be noted that three of the five approved standards (CDMA2000, TD-SCDMA, and WCDMA) are based on CDMA. Even the GSM stream has adopted CDMA technology (WCDMA) for its 3G standard. In that respect, it can be very well said that CDMA is the technology for Third Generation Wireless. CDMA2000 is also known by its ITU name, IMT-2000 CDMA Multi-Carrier (MC).
Advantage of CDMA 2000
There are few important features of CDMA 2000 technology in comparison to others. These are data speed, voice capacity, latencies, support for advance mobile services, compatibility with IP and support for wide network coverage, wide scope of device selection, seamless evolution path, etc.
